Custom Trailer Builds & Fabrication

Trailers built and modified around what they actually have to carry and how they get used. Contact us to discuss your trailer project and requirements.

Overview

Purpose-built trailer projects

A trailer that fits your equipment, your loading habits, and your work routine is a different animal from whatever happens to be on the lot.

Custom trailer work starts with the load and the routine: what goes on the deck, how it gets on and off, how often, and what has been frustrating about the current setup. Those answers shape the deck layout, the framing, and the features worth adding.

Every trailer inquiry is reviewed on its own terms. Not every request will be a fit for the shop, and we’ll tell you that straight rather than string you along.

Trailer frames and structural fabrication

Framing and structural metalwork fabricated as part of a build, discussed against your stated requirements.

Modifications and custom components

Changes and additions to existing trailers — components, mounts, and metalwork built for how you load and haul.

Trailer builds & mods

Modifications, add-ons, and custom trailer work

Not every trailer project starts from scratch. A lot of the work that comes through the shop is modifying or upgrading a trailer so it does the job better.

Trailer builds and mods include gates, ramps, added side rails, coupler modifications, custom mud truck trailers, repairs, and any other custom fabrication needed to make a trailer work the way you want it to.

Bring the trailer — or detailed photos — and describe what it’s hauling, how it’s loaded, and what’s not working about the current setup. That context shapes the modification.

Planning

Project planning considerations

Trailer work involves structure, loading, and safety, so the planning stage matters more than on most projects.

Before any build or modification is agreed on, the requirements are reviewed against what the trailer will be asked to do. Load-related questions, ratings, and compliance are handled per project with the customer rather than assumed from a web page.

If a request isn’t something the shop should take on, we’ll say so.

Questions

Trailer fabrication FAQs

Custom trailer fabrication is one of the shop's areas of work. Every trailer inquiry is discussed individually — contact us to discuss your trailer project and requirements.

Modifications and added components are common requests. Bring photos of the existing trailer and describe what you want changed so we can discuss whether it's workable.

Load-related questions are answered per project after reviewing the requirements. We don't publish load ratings, towing capacities, or compliance claims on the website.

Intended use, approximate dimensions, the expected load, desired features, and whether this is a new build or work on an existing trailer.

Timing depends on the scope, materials, current workload, and required fabrication. Contact JG's with your project details to discuss availability.

Trailer repair and changes of use

Utility trailers, boat trailers and work trailers each have different loading and clearance needs. Discuss frame welding, repairs, custom brackets and modifications with JG's in Bunkie before changing how a trailer is used.

Frame welding and trailer modifications are reviewed after looking at the damage, remaining metal and intended load. Send photos of the entire trailer and close-ups of the affected area; not every damaged frame is suitable for repair.

Possibly. Explain what you plan to haul, the dimensions and expected load, and the changes you need. The frame, mounting points and existing condition must be reviewed before a modification is agreed on.

When you call, have photographs, approximate measurements, the material if known, your location, the desired result and your preferred timeframe ready.
